Straight Pool rewards patience, pattern play, and the ability to stay at the table. It also asks somebody to track every point, every rack transition, every run, and every foul while the match is moving. RackRival's Straight Pool scorekeeper puts that work in one place, so the players can keep their attention where it belongs.
Built for 14.1
Straight Pool, also known as 14.1 Continuous Pool, is a point game: legally pocketed balls add to a player's score, and the first player to reach their target wins. That sounds simple until a run crosses a rack, a foul changes the total, or two players are racing to different numbers.
RackRival handles the details that are easy to lose on a paper score sheet:
- Set a target for each player, including different targets for handicapped matches.
- Track scores, the current run, each player's high run, foul counts, and balls on the table.
- Carry a run through the 14-ball rack transition without resetting the shooter.
- Record safeties, standard fouls, opening-break fouls, and the three-consecutive-foul penalty.
- Undo the last scoring action when a table-side tap does not match what happened.
Scoring Without the Headache
When an inning ends, tap Record Score and enter the legal balls made. Prefer to count what is still on the table? Switch the scoring preference to Balls Remaining and RackRival works out the made-ball total. Choose Safety or Foul when needed; otherwise, moving to the next player records the miss.
Before anything is saved, the scorer shows the net score change, the new total, the foul count, and how many balls remain. Continue Shooting keeps the same player at the table. Next Player passes the turn. When a target is reached, the winning score is recorded without adding a foul after the match is already over.
At the 14-ball boundary, RackRival moves the table count into the next rack and keeps a continuing run intact. The scoreboard always shows who is shooting, the live run, each high run, the players' targets, and the current number of balls on the table. Scores can also move below zero when foul penalties require it.
Focus on the Table, Not the Math
A good 14.1 scorekeeper should be useful without becoming part of the match. RackRival keeps the score visible in Live Matches, stores each scoring action in the match, and gives the scorer a one-tap Undo when something needs correcting. Players can also choose a Rated Match, allowing a completed Straight Pool result to count toward Rack Rating for the discipline.
The result is a pool scorekeeping app that handles the arithmetic quietly. You call the shot, watch the break ball, and plan the next pattern. RackRival keeps up with the numbers.
